Jetboost.tech
An all-in-one platform for UK tradespeople, sole traders, small businesses and clubs: customers, quotes, jobs, invoicing, payments and bookings in one app, with VAT, CIS and the domestic reverse charge built in.
The business side follows the shape of a job: customers with site addresses, a price list with supplier price-file import, quotes that customers can approve online or receive by WhatsApp or a link, jobs, and invoices with deposits, stage payments, recurring billing and credit notes. Quotes and invoices are sent by email with viewed tracking and automatic reminders, and customers can pay by card through Stripe Connect, Pay by Bank or Bacs Direct Debit. It is built for UK rules, with per-line VAT, CIS and the domestic reverse charge, statutory late-payment interest, Companies House and HMRC VAT number checks, bank-holiday-aware dates and Peppol-ready e-invoicing, and it syncs to accounting software through a Xero connector or CSV export.
Beyond that there are bookings with deposits, no-show rules and two-way calendar sync, compliance certificates with landlord reminders, a club pack covering renewals, consent, Gift Aid and DBS checks, and a project management module with sprints and burndown charts. It installs as an app with offline drafts, and businesses can connect AI assistants through an MCP server or third-party apps through JetBoost's own OAuth sign-in. Alongside the app I built a shared UI component library and an Astro marketing site at jetboost.tech.
Case Study
The Challenge
The same app has to serve one person organising their own life and a business with staff, often the same person wearing both hats, without data ever leaking between their personal space and their businesses, or between one business and another. It also had to handle the parts of UK trade that generic tools get wrong, such as VAT that varies by line, CIS deductions and the reverse charge, deposits and part payments, and Direct Debit, while staying simple enough for a sole trader on a phone, and it needed accounts and sign-in that are secure enough to hold a business's money and customer data.
The Solution
I built it as a modular monolith on Laravel 13 with Inertia and Vue 3, made up of around twenty auto-discovered modules that talk to each other only through domain events, using an actions pattern with typed data objects. It is single-database multi-tenant, and a shared ownership model lets the same kind of record belong either to a person or to a business, with search scoped so people only ever find what they could open. Accounts started on Keycloak and I later moved them into the app itself with Laravel Fortify, adding passkeys, two-step sign-in, new-device alerts and bot and abuse protection after a dedicated security review, while Laravel Passport makes JetBoost an OAuth provider for third-party apps. Payments run through Laravel Cashier and Stripe Connect, plans and limits are enforced consistently on the server and in the interface, features roll out behind Pennant flags, and customer data is hosted in AWS London. CI runs Pint, Larastan at level 8, a parallel Pest suite with a coverage gate, ESLint, Prettier, vue-tsc and Playwright with accessibility checks.
The Outcome
JetBoost is live in early access at jetboost.tech, free while it is in development, and ships changes continuously, with recent work covering credit notes, Direct Debit disputes and a full business data export. The app, the UI library and the marketing site are maintained as separate private repositories.
